Anesthesia

Anesthesia care

Your anesthesia care starts before the day of surgery. We review your medical history, medications and any previous problems with anesthesia, then discuss the plan for your procedure.

Preoperative assessment

Why your surgeon and anesthesiologist work together

The procedure, your health and your recovery needs all affect the anesthesia plan. Your surgeon and anesthesiologist review those details together and discuss any concerns before surgery.

Before your procedure

Tell us about any previous problems with anesthesia, including nausea or a difficult airway. Bring your medication list and ask about anything that concerns you.

On the day

Your anesthesia clinician manages your anesthesia and monitors you throughout the procedure. Your surgeon performs the operation.

During recovery

We plan for pain relief, nausea and any support you’ll need after the procedure. Before discharge, you’ll receive instructions for recovery and follow-up.
